Current Members
Dyme Graydon
Of course! Vocals and lead guitarist. His stage name is Sylver Dyme, and he's 26 years old.
Wesley "Wes" Cohen
Guitarist. He's usually the first person to jump on the offer to go drinking, either with just Dyme or with the band as a whole. He loves to have fun and is super social. He's 26 years old.
Ira Romero
Bassist. While he's a little wilder than the other band members, he's also the first to pull anyone else back from something that'll get them in trouble or hurt. He's kind of one of the band's big brothers. He's 27 years old.
Mitchell "Mitch" Bellamy
Drummer. He loves to hang out with the band as a whole and is also fond of spending time with Dyme. Though 'fond of' is something of an understatement, considering he's in love with Dyme and they dated on and off for a while, though they usually just had sex. They're very comfortable around each other. He was a little sad when Dyme started seriously dating other people, but never let his emotions cause a rift between them. He wants Dyme to be happy, even if it's not with him. He's 25 years old.
Isaac Locke
Keyboard player. He's a little more quiet and reserved than the rest of the band, but is solid support and will gladly listen to any problems they're having that they feel like sharing or need to talk about. He's sort of one of the band's big brothers. He's 27 years old.
Renee Cole
Manager. She's a little strict, but only because she has to be to keep everyone in line. She genuinely cares about them all.
Past Members
Moira Bynum
Back-up singer.
nyckel graydon.
Nyckel was Dyme's older brother. He was born on Krele in the city of Ceol and was killed when he was just twenty-one (and Dyme was thirteen) due to gang violence.
Before being adopted
His parents were Fern and Neal Haynes. Shortly before he was born, his father was killed in a car accident. His mother, heartbroken, was left with a mountain of bills. Hospital bills, funeral expenses, insurance bills. There was only so much that she could pay for, and she was left struggling. Given her strained financial situation, she decided that it would be best to give up her unborn child for adoption so that maybe someone would be able to give him the chance at a good life.
It was a tough decision for her to make and she regretted it terribly in both the months leading up to Nyckel's birth and the months directly following.
Nyckel's friends, most of whom were killed by the Velibats:
Marcus "Mars" Taylor
Dallan Wright
Chas Adams
Tyrus Reed
Kanoa Gray
Leith Rivera
Of these six, only Mars is known to still be alive.
marcus taylor.
Marcus Taylor, otherwise known as Mars, was one of Nyckel's best friends. Mars is the only known surviving friend of Nyckel's after the violence with the Velibats. He is also the one responsible for getting Dyme addicted to Hush, though that was not his original intention. Six years older than Dyme.
salem langley.
Salem Langley is a twenty-nine-year-old bodyguard from Rayonnant. He works primarily with celebrities.
History
Salem was born in Rayonnant. His mother, Tegan, was a waitress and his father, Carter, was a police officer. He's an only child and grew up with only a few close friends. During middle school, he had trouble controlling his temper when he was bullied and teased for being a cop's son, and was often in trouble for fighting. As he grew older and entered high school, his father helped him control his temper and find healthier outlets instead of violence. His father would also take him to the shooting range, and taught him how to properly use a gun, but he did not give him a gun of his own.
Salem's mother was secretly a drug addict and managed to keep it from the family until a fatal overdose when Salem was a teenager. After her death, Carter and Salem were packing up her belongings when they discovered a keepsake box full of drugs and paraphernalia. Even more devastated by these findings, Carter blamed himself for what happened to his wife and why she resorted to drugs instead of talking to him about whatever was bothering her or caused her to become addicted. He started drinking, became distant from Salem, and eventually wrapped his car around a tree one day while driving drunk. He survived the crash but ended up paralyzed from the waist down.
On top of his mother's death, Salem took this hard and moved away from home to attend university. Instead of letting his grief and anger consume him and make him bitter, he channeled it towards something good. He started schooling and training to become a bodyguard so that he could try to keep more bad things from happening to people.
During university, he also started to question his sexuality. After some awkward experimentation at campus parties and a few nightclubs that culminated in a one night stand, he finally figured out that he's gay. Shortly after that, he promptly decided to never mention it to anyone while he was still a student and trainee. Both in case it would influence any of his professors and because he was embarrassed about how he found out.
Eventually, he graduated in the top percentage of his class. He visited home afterward to see his father and catch up a little. Carter greeted him warmly and told him that he was proud of him, but Salem didn't stay for long. After being away for a few years he'd forgotten how painful the memories of being home were until he saw his father. Much to Carter's dismay, Salen left after staying for barely a week.
His first job was protecting a small city politician. It was low-key and mostly uneventful. No one tried anything and no one got hurt. From there, he moved up the ladder for important jobs, mostly working backstage security at concerts. Occasionally he would accompany celebrities to events or work the events themselves.
Everything was going relatively well, general stress from his job aside, until he was assigned to Dyme. It was hard enough being back in his home town but then he quickly found out that Dyme was a handful all on his own. He was the only one assigned to Dyme's security considering how small of a town Rayonnant is, but keeping an eye on Dyme was more than a one-man job. Dyme didn't have any enemies, but he did have seemingly endless energy and a knack for getting into trouble. Salem had to stick by him a lot to keep him from doing anything stupid. It wasn't a lonely assignment, at least.
Dyme was one of the most popular celebrities Salem had ever worked with and he was determined to do the job right. For the first week or so, Salem tolerated Dyme, treating him as he would any other moderately difficult client. Slowly though, Salem started warming up to him, accompanying him out for drinks every now and then, and not entirely because he was obligated to keep an eye on Dyme. Spending quiet time with Dyme where he didn't have to constantly worry turned out to be nicer than he'd expected it to be. It gave him a chance to get to know Dyme better, even if he remained oblivious to Dyme's budding feelings for him. Except for when Dyme asked him out to dinner. Salem started realizing then. He didn't say or do anything about it though, mostly because he had no idea what to do about it. He'd never had time for a serious relationship before or anything beyond dinner dates and casual sex.
After Dyme's second and last show in Rayonnant, Salem got caught up backstage and sent Dyme on ahead of him with strict instructions to go straight back to his temporary apartment. Dyme did as he was told and let his driver take him home. When Salem finally arrived later to make sure Dyme was okay he found that Dyme had already started celebrating without him and was tipsy. What he didn't know until later was that Dyme had also taken Hush. Dyme started heavily flirting with him, which led to Salem briefly allowing himself to finally acknowledge his feelings for Dyme, which in turn led to kissing before Dyme abruptly passed out in Salem's arms. Salem panicked and called an ambulance.
After Dyme was rushed to the hospital, someone filled Salem in about Dyme's addictions and made him sign a privacy statement saying he wouldn't tell anyone, since they were struggling to keep it hidden from the media. Since Dyme's incident wasn't ruled as a suicide attempt, he was later discharged from the hospital after he recovered and allowed to return to his home in Ceol. A few days later, when Salem had had time to process the fact that Dyme was okay and that he was addicted to drugs, which Salem had personally seen ruin lives, he went to confront him about what had happened. Dyme apologized for the trouble he'd caused and for worrying him, but otherwise tried to brush the incident off as a stupid mistake. Salem didn't find that answer satisfactory, even when Dyme added that he didn't plan on dying any time soon.
Livid and worried, Salem yelled at him, telling him how selfish and reckless he was being, endangering his life like that. Logically, Dyme got upset right back at him and they started fighting. Two bad tempers combined and things ended up getting physical. Salem wasn't the one who started it and he tried very hard not to hurt Dyme. As upset as Salem was, he was upset because he cared about Dyme and didn't want to make things worse. Things still got worse anyway and he ended up accidentally bruising Dyme's ribs. Upset with himself for hurting Dyme and upset with Dyme for risking his life, Salem told him he couldn't stay and watch someone he cared about abuse drugs, and then walked out.
He spent that night in Ceol, thinking about what had happened. He almost went back and apologized to Dyme but was worried Dyme would be too angry to want to see him. Instead, he flew out the next day and focused on throwing himself back into work. As the weeks passed, he often considered calling Dyme to see how he was and apologize but he never did. He kept tabs on Dyme the best he could, worrying when he heard Dyme ended up in the hospital again, but eventually he stopped paying as much attention when he heard about all of Dyme's dates with Moira.
His jobs went well, he kept unruly fans from assaulting celebrities, kept people from getting hurt, and tried to forget about his feelings for Dyme. All of his efforts were ruined when his contact keeping an eye on Dyme told him about the concert shooting and Moira's death. Immediately, Salem dropped everything he was doing and got on a plane to Ceol. As one of Dyme's former bodyguards, and with a good reputation, Dyme's current security let him up into the penthouse.
